Luangwa lies at the Southern end of Africa’s Great Rift Valley. The Luangwa River flows along four fifths of the Luangwa rift valley. The upper and middle parts of the valley contain the North Luangwa National Park and South Luangwa National Parks of Zambia, which are some of the finest in Africa. The Luangwa River itself is home to huge populations of Hippopotami and Crocodiles. It boasts the largest concentration of Hippos in the world.
